Word coming out of Fort Collins, CO is that Fat Tire brewer New Belgium is planning on building its East Coast brewery in Asheville, NC, not Philadelphia. While never a sure thing, “America’s Best Beer Drinking City” was in the running for the beer-maker’s satellite brewery. New Belgium reportedly picked Asheville for its deep sense of community, rich natural environment and the opportunity to revitalize a brownfield for the new facility. When it opens in 2015, the brewery will have a 400,000-barrel capacity, and will bring New Belgium beers to much of the East Coast. [Market Watch]
