The Houston Brothers, the forces behind cocktail hot-spots Harvard & Stone and La Descarga, are preparing to open Pour Vous in the middle of this week at the former Melrose home of Ivan Kane’s 40 Deuce. Whereas the boys took inspiration from forties L.A. noir and fifties Cuban cool for their previous ventures, The Hollywood Reporter announces that this will be an early 20th century Parisian-inspired lounge, featuring lighting and fixtures filched from a French flea market, apothecary shelves featuring vintage bottles and hat boxes, and a stained-glass dome of a ceiling inspired by Parisian department store, Galeries Lafayette. So, what’s to eat and drink here?
The menu here apparently takes inspiration from aphrodisiacs and will include chocolate, oysters, wine and cheese sourced from France, and cocktails with Champagne and cognac as their cores. Speaking of thing that make you go “ooh-la-la,” the takeover of Ivan Kane’s former burlesque stunner and Sean MacPherson’s former Smalls K.O. is hardly lost on the brothers Houston, as Mark offers, “The venues that have been here before us are some of the most amazing in L.A. history…So we have to live up to that.” Stay tuned to Twitter and Facebook for opening updates.
