Hinsdale’s Zak’s Place Duo to Open Two in Black Sheep Space

We don’t know Zak’s Place in Hinsdale— our knowledge of food in that part of the burbs pretty much jumps straight from Vie to Katy’s Dumplings in Westmont, with a swing by Hamburger Heaven in Elmhurst— but we were instantly attracted by one compound phrase in Dish’s item about Two, the new place its two owners plan to open in West Town: “medium-size plates informed by in-house butchering, bacon-smoking, and sausage-making.” Doing some quick Google fu, we get the impression that Zak’s is admired for manly, meaty things (it pretty much dominates burger discussion in Hinsdale, not perhaps the greatest challenge) so we’ll be watching this one as a dark horse among the best openings of the year. And dark horse would indeed be a better fate than Black Sheep— the location at 1132 W. Grand where it’s opening is the former location of last year’s ill-fated rock and roll upscale joint, and before that the longer-lived May Street Market. No word on opening date yet. [Dish]
