With April Fools’ Day falling on a weekend, Grub Street wasn’t able to publish our usual HuffPo-esque slideshow of award-winning dishes made from chewing gum, but some other food-world folks managed to pull off a joke. On Friday, we read about gecko-assisted cheese production, and yesterday morning we opened our window shades in alarm when Eric Ripert tweeted a photo of Central Park in the snow. The Food 52 crew sent a fake “Food 54” digest with a Ruth Reichl–reminiscent disco-fries video and some other silly stories; and the Meat Hook freaked out a whole bunch of earnest Brooklyn foodies by announcing in a newsletter that it was moving to “Ridgewood, Queens … convenient to Long Island.” Did we miss any?
