’Tis the Season for the Funky-Colored Chicks Controversy

Animal-rights activists have their jobs cut of for them this Easter as some states, like Florida, are making it easier to inject eggs with festive colors and sell baby chickens as Easter props. Egg-dyers say the food-color injections — which go into the incubating egg — are perfectly safe. Opponents argue that it causes stress and cruelty, turning “live birds into holiday playthings that are quickly discarded.” Obviously, the human society is having a cow. [NYT]
