You scour this town of a million taco joints, looking for the ideal Mexican restaurant— so authentic the food sings, clean as a whistle and staffed by people who couldn’t be nicer. And when you find one you treasure it, and share it. It was Dr. Peter Engler who first found Birrieria Zaragoza on South Pulaski and sang the praises of its goat birria tatemada, and Mike Sula and others on LTHForum soon followed, to the point that even famous TV people followed to the obscure region of Archer Heights. Now Sula reports that the Zaragozas, including son Jonathan who has recently been learning other sides of the biz at Sepia under Andrew Zimmerman, are opening a second location next week, not that it’s necessarily any closer to you. It’s going to be in near west suburban Melrose Park, where there are apparently a lot of Mexicans from the Zaragozas’ native Jalisco, hungry for goat. [Reader]
