We’ve been hearing rumblings of a beer and food project taking shape behind the decrepit walls of the forever-shuttered Norge appliance showroom at Sixth and Bainbridge streets for nearly a year. But now there’s word of a name and concept. Meal Ticket reports that the spot, which is next to Bistro La Minette, and across the street from Beau Monde, will be called the Bainbridge Street Barrel House, and like just about every other restaurant project announced in recent memory, it’s going to have a gastropub-y vibe about it. But its key differentiating factor is, it will have a penchant for the time honored tradition of coopering. Barrel-aged beers, whiskey rested in virgin oak and wines aged to perfection will take center stage.

The food side of things will compliment the barrels of boozey goodness that will be on offer. Think things like pickles, charcuterie and cheeses. Right now heavy construction is underway. An opening date remains a little elusive.
