Globe correspondent Taryn Plumb ponders whether the suburbs north of Boston “are blossoming into strikingly diverse dining destinations in their own right,” noting the successes in Winchester’s culinary scene like A Tavola.

The culinary scene isn’t confined to Winchester though. Medford, Newburyport, Salem and Lowell are attracting new restaurants and foodies alike. As downtown Boston neighborhoods are reportedly less family friendly, perhaps food is following those leaving the city?

It’s no wonder then that there’s a robust debate on Chowhound Boston about the best eats in the North Andover area for North End transplants.
