Alex Reznik, the Top Chef contestant who once held down Ivan Kane’s Cafe Was and later, kosher gourmet experience La Seine, plans to open a concept of his own early this summer on the second floor of Downtown’s Luxe City Center Hotel. Called FiOLA (a scramble combining the intersections of Figueroa and Olympic, with L.A.), the Brooklyn-born, Paramus-reared chef is plunking down across from the touristy ticker of L.A. Live!
FiOLA will take a seasonal approach to its menus, stoked primarily by Cali cuisine with a shot of Northern Italian influence, with the appropriate appointment of firebrand bartender Matt Biancaniello (who, like Reznik, was a participant in our L.A. Diet feature) to consult on a changing roster of cocktails. The space will include a dining room, bar area and lounge with communal tables, as well as an outdoor patio with DJs and fire and water designs adding some late-night pizazz. Some of Reznik’s past creations include frog leg lollipops and Kosher sushi, making us excited to see what he’ll do when left to his own devices at FiOLA.
FiOLA, coming to 1020 South Figueroa St. Downtown.
