Subway Nixes Five-Dollar Footlong Deal In S.F.

In an act of corporate protest against the high cost of doing business in San Francisco, Subway has killed their five-dollar footlong deal in San Francisco County. SF Citizen noted the official statement on the door of local Subway stating in all caps that “ALL SUBWAY Restuaurants” in the county could not afford to participate in this national promotion any longer. Those higher costs of doing business they cite are, of course, our high minimum wage (the highest in the nation, in fact, at $10.24 per hour), and high retail rents, among other things. We’re pretty sure Willie Brown is super sad about this news. [SF Citizen via SF Weekly]
