The owners of Union Square’s Machu Picchu have opened Mixtura at the corner of Oxford and Beacon streets up the road a bit, also in Somerville. The menu is very diverse, featuring French toast, spare ribs, burritos, Salvadorian plates, Peruvian/Latin fusion, and “healthy juices” to wash it all down.
“It’s like a traditional diner, only with more creative food that tastes a lot better than any diner in the Boston area,” they declare on their happy green website. By all appearances, they seem ready to cater to health nuts and competitive eaters; the breakfast menu alone features pea-and-carrot omelets and an omelet injected with refried beans, cheese, and sour cream. Thank God for those healthy juices.
Hat tip to BRT for alerting us to this intriguing better-than-a-diner diner. Our medical bill is in the mail.
