Lots of Berkeley Ex-Vegeterians Eat Sustainable, Grass-Fed Meat Now

The old ethical and health arguments for not eating meat when our industrial food system is so gross have become anachronisms for some ex-vegetarians, especially those in Berkeley who live amongst fine butcher shops like Marin Sun Farms and The Local Butcher Shop that sell only humanely raised, grass-fed beef. The East Bay Express talks to one of those ex-veggies, Aaron Lander, who’s now a sales manager at Marin Sun Farms and says that after he saw the lives of Marin Sun cows, eating wild foods from the pasture and not getting pumped with hormones or antibiotics, he declared, “Now, I’m a carnivore.”

He says he knows of a lot of ex-vegetarians who have switched because of the quality of meat they can get. Also the piece quotes another former vegetarian who says she lost seven pounds when she started eating grass-fed meat, because she didn’t need to fill up on as much vegetables and grains anymore. Of course for vegans, and those who don’t believe in killing animals for food ever, this article is sure to be a call to arms. Look for the comments to blow up in three, two, one… [EBX]
