While Venice is famously resistant to the charms of chain restaurants, a quick jump over the southern border at Washington Boulevard brings one into Marina del Rey, a middle earth that knows no limits to what it will to stomach for lunch and a lighting-fast dinner. The Shoppes of Marina del Rey on Lincoln currently play host to Freebird’s, Tutti-Frutti, and Coffee Bean, making it the prime stop for those bent on corporate-driven cuisine. Soon to join the scrum will be an East Coast transplant establishing franchised enclaves at a rate much quicker than any others, be they weak burger interlopers Five Guys or hate-stoking chicken chain Chick-Fil-A.

Yup, Jersey Mike’s Subs, the sandwich shop founded in Dirty Jerz back in 1956, is coming to Marina del Rey on Lincoln, marking the sandwich slinger’s eleventh location in Los Angeles. The fast option will join its like in the next couple of months, as it takes over the northernmost space previously empty. See the menu here, and until Sunny Spot answers demands to serve its off-the-hook burger during lunch hours, we’ll see you down the street at Mendocino Farms.
