Jason Owens Will Leave Local 149 to Expand American Provisions Concept in Fort Point

Soon you won’t need to cross a bridge to get your groceries.

Good news for Fort Point: The Globe reports today that Jason Owens will open a food market on the ground floor of an office building at 12 Farnsworth St. Grub Street hears that Owens, who had opened Southie’s Local 149 and Newton’s Biltmore Bar & Grille, has left both restaurants to focus on this new venture. He’ll also continue to run the successful (and pioneering) market American Provisions in Southie. We’re told via an e-mail from a rep that the new shop will “have a different name and a slightly different concept but will have all the hallmarks of American Provisions: fresh local produce, meats, farmstead cheese, lots of locally sourced specialty foods and likely a prepared food selection as well.” Awesome. Starving artists in Fort Point? No longer! [Globe, Earlier]
