A new bar-restaurant called Hopscotch is on its way to Oakland’s Uptown district, to the former Chef Edwards Bar-B-Que spot at 1915 San Pablo Avenue (between 19th and 20th), about a block and a half from Hibiscus. Grub Street finds that owners Kyle Itani and Jenny Schwartz have filed for a full liquor license for the place, and that Itani is a chef who has been working in New York at The Meatball Shop, which was opened by former S.F. chef Daniel Holzman. Also, Itani has worked with Yoshi’s chef Sho Kamio, and he spent some time in Japan last year, and was in Sendai during the earthquake. We’ll update you as we learn more. [Grub Street]
