Who Are the Best New Chefs in New Hampshire and Vermont?

Nominee William Kovel
Nominee William Kovel

Excitement: Food & Wine has revealed nominations for the People’s Best New Chef 2012 - New England. Naturally, we’re very psyched that Clink’s Joseph Margate, Bistro du Midi’s Robert Sisca, and Catalyst’s William Kovel got nods. But, well, a couple states might feel a bit left out right now.

Also nominated: Joel Viehland of Community Table in Connecticut; Bjorn Somlo of the very awesome Nudel in the Berkshires (they make an intense carrot soup!); Jake Rojas of Tallulah on the Thames and Nemo Bolin of Cook & Brown, both in Rhode Island; and, finally, Geoffroy Deconinck of Natalie’s and Amanda Hallowell of Nebo Lodge, both in Maine.

Nary a restaurant in New Hampshire nor Vermont show up on the roster. Which leads us to wonder: Are there any up-and-comers in New Hampshire and Vermont? You have until March 11 to vote. Let us know if you think anybody new and amazing up north should’ve been nominated and wasn’t.
