We knew we hadn’t heard the last of chef Ravi Kapur after his departure from Prospect last year, and the late-breaking news this hour is that he will be popping up in the coming weeks, testing out some ideas for a potential next project. He’s planning some “suppers,” saying that the word is more “synonymous with intimacy” than dinner, with the first being on Monday, February 20, at Citizen’s Band.
Kapur says of the location, which is right down the street from his home, “To me, the place is just as important as the menu. I really like what [Chris] Beerman’s created at Citizen’s Band and it has this great diy vibe to it.”
The suppers will be Kapur’s first attempt at flexing his culinary muscles since leaving Prospect, and the menus will reflect his recent travels in Japan and his home state of Hawaii. Think grilled beef tongue with shaved radish and chili, Brussels sprouts kim chi, and duck miso sausage with turnips.
The suppers will be $65 per person, including tax and tip but not including beverages. Make a reservation here for the first dinner, but do it fast. Prime time tables already seem to have disappeared. (A few walk-in seats will be available at the counter.) Look for further events to be announced in the future, likely on Mondays if we had to guess.
