NOT a table tennis concept.
Earlier this week, those masters of masculine-flowery prose over at UrbanDaddy claimed that the newly Balazs-owned Standard Hotel East Village had debuted its Ping-Pong and comfort food concept in what used to be the Trilby. Well, the Standard is not having it: On the hotel’s official blog, Stan D’Arde writes that “painting the walls and dropping a ping pong table in for a little bit of fun doesn’t necessarily make for a grand opening.” So don’t get too attached to playing table tennis there. Writes Stan, “The Standard, East Village is a slow work in progress which will be completed over the next year. It will be quiet and intimate with food that not only is comforting but hopefully food coma inducing.”[Standard Culture]
