It’s been a while since we talked about pie. But between now and June, it will surely be a topic ripe for discussion. That’s because word came today of Magpie Artisan Pie Bakery & Boutique, an all pie place coming to the West side of South Street, on the 1600 block. According to the press release, it’s the brainchild of former ad exec Holly Ricciardi and when it opens, it will serve sweet pies (by the slice and whole), like sour cherry almond streusel, salted chocolate meringue, and orange blossom peach raspberry, as well as savory offerings like Croque Monsieur, spinach dill and feta, and ham potato and leek. It’s worth noting that Ricciardi will also serve up a her rendition of the Pennsylvania Dutch specialty Shoofly pie.
