Lakeview’s Falafill is sure the little falafel shop that could… if “could” is defined as “attract cool guest chefs to do their own style of falafel sandwich” (it helps that proceeds go to a charity of the chef’s choice). Following in the footsteps of Stephanie Izard, Sarah Grueneberg and Bill Kim, this month the guest chef is Justin Large, chef of Big Star, who gets his Mexican-Middle Eastern fusion on by tossing the falafel in his own arbol sauce, then wrapping them with black bean hummus, lettuce, onion and queso fresco. Available all through February, $1 from each wrap will go to the American Cancer Society. (Disclosure: this Grub Street editor did some work with Falafill over a year ago, but is not involved now.)
