Mark Packer, Nick Pashalis, and Nick Tsoulos, the trio behind Avra, Lavo, and Tao, among other New York restaurants, have taken the space at 1032 Lexington where Payard Bakery used to stand. According to insiders close to the project, they are debating between opening a second branch of Avra and coming up with a new steakhouse concept. “They just need to figure out if an uptown branch would cannibalize the midtown location,” said one source. “Right now they are thinking it would affect about 15 percent of their customers.”
