Pintxos, el perro de Barcito.

Barcito, the bar and bar-snacks side of Tavernita, opened last night. Like the pintxos bars in San Sebastian, Spain that it’s modeled after, it’s mainly a stand-and-drink spot with a separate menu and beverage program (by the Tippling Bros.) from its much larger sibling. Drinks focus on beer, wine, cider and sherry, as well as draft sangria and a short list of cocktails with distinctly Spanish flavors (bet you’ve never had paprika-infused whiskey before). The menu is divided into Pintxos (“bar snacks from Northern Spain,”) Pica Pica (“bites to pick at”) and Tablas ("served on board”) and covers the ground from charcuterie to mussels and croquetas, all drink-friendly items. Barcito has its own website as well, standandeat.com, and its Twitter account is run by a dog named Pintxo with a rather outspoken tongue. (Maybe “pintxo” is Spanish for “Triumph.”)
