Treat Returns For a Weekend Inside Logan Square’s New Township

There was once in Humboldt Park a quirky, cool little brunch place with an Indian spice tint to it called Treat. It got good reviews, had devoted fans in that neighborhood not overabundant with brunch spots who loved the saag paneer scramble for breakfast, and then it closed. A sushi place was supposed to take over the space, but still hasn’t. In the meantime, ex-owner Tamiz Cicone has been working on a new place called Township in Logan Square with much of his old staff. And this weekend he’s introducing that restaurant with a positively brilliant idea designed to evoke warm, saag paneer scrambly feelings in all his old customers: he’s staging a popup of his old restaurant inside his new restaurant. The Treat popup from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday will bring back some of that restaurant’s favorites, while introducing menu items from Township. Beyond the limited offerings this weekend, however, Ciccone has plans for a much more ambitious business in the space, formerly a Mexican restaurant called Pancho’s, at 2200 N. California, including a live music venue with full bar, jazz brunches, kid’s shows and more. Seating is limited, so call 773-384-1865 or email treatrestaurant@gmail.com to make your reservation.
