Tentori, Next Among Jean Banchet Award Winners at Grand Chefs Gala

Giuseppe Tentori won Chef of the Year for GT Fish & Oyster Bar, while Next took home three medals for Best Fine Dining, Best New Restaurant, and Chef de Cuisine Dave Beran at the Grand Chef’s Gala benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Friday night. Jimmy Bannos and Scott Harris scored as well with two honors— the Founders Award for charitable works, and The Purple Pig won the Peoples’ Choice award for the best dish served at the event. Steve Dolinsky and Alpana Singh hosted the event at the Fairmont Hotel, and handed out the Jean Banchet Awards, named for the French restaurateur who raised Chicago’s fine dining profile with Le Francais in the 1970s and 1980s (and who was in attendance this year, looking tanned and marvelous).
