Last week, health permits were approved at Andrew Kirschner’s rustic Tar & Roses and earlier this week, signage went up. Though a fixed opening is yet to be announced and requests for more information this morning were unanswered by press reps, the restaurant appears to be on the verge of opening, as evidenced by a training we captured last night. The space, at least what we could glimpse from the street, looks stunning, raising our already high excitement for the wood-fired creations of this former Wilshire chef and his executive sous, Jacob Wildman, a former chef de cuisine at Govind Armstrong’s Table 8. In addition to the bare-brick, high ceiling, wide-windowed, open charmer with tear-shaped glass lamps you see swinging above, Tar & Roses plans to offer outdoor seating, take-out, and even wood-fired tables.
