Innovative Dining Group, the slick set that blurs the borders between lounge and restaurant at well-tailored destinations like Sushi Roku, Boa, Katana, and Delphine, has a new project for the new year. Soleto is due Downtown at 801 Figueroa St., the former home of Patina’s Zucca, which shuttered last summer.
Planned as a traditional trattoria, Soleto will stand as another entry in our budding boom of wood-fired pizza places. The restaurant teases in an advertisement that it will serve lunch and dinner through a pizza bar, with additional space for a cocktail bar, lounge area, and outdoor patio. So far, food details besides paper-thin pies are scarce at this Euro, which marks another departure from the company’s Japan fetish that began at French Riveria-inspired Delphine, but early encouraging word finds Delphine chef Sasha Lyon, the former executive chef at New York brasseries Pastis and Balthazar, planning the Italian menu here.
