Moss Room Reopens For Lunch Only With Slanted Door Chef

The Moss Room
The Moss Room

As we mentioned right after the new year, the Moss Room abruptly closed January 1 and was handed over from executive chef Loretta Keller (Coco500) to Charles Phan (Slanted Door), who already operates the upstairs café at the Academy of Sciences. As of this week, the Moss Room reopens as the Moss Room (for now), with a daytime-only menu by Slanted Door chef de cuisine Justine Kelly, which was posted to Facebook and which you can see below. As a rep for Phan’s restaurant group tells Grub Street, plans to reopen for dinner and probably to rename and re-concept the restaurant remain in the works, and we should know more soon.

As you can see, there are a fair number of Slanted Door-esque touches already on the menu, including crispy imperial rolls and glass noodles, but also some more basic fare like fried chicken (albeit with sriracha butter), a flat-iron steak, and a burger on focaccia.

They’re now open daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., beneath the café at the Academy of Sciences.
