Le Cheval to Return to Its Old Spot in Oakland, One Year Later

In a strange little twist, longtime Oakland Vietnamese spot Le Cheval, which closed over a year ago after 25 years at 1007 Clay Street due to a landlord dispute, has been invited back to the space by a new landlord. The restaurant hadn’t completely disappeared — it moved down the block, shrank by half, and became LCX at 1019 Clay, operated by Quan Tran, the grandson of the original owner, 81-year-old Tuyet Bui. But now, as as a Chowhounder reports, Le Cheval will be reborn in February in its original digs. Presumably this means LCX will close, but that is unclear. [Chow]
