Just when we thought we’d seen it all, as far as hot dogs are concerned, comes word of two new places to dig into some dogs in Center City. The first is a satellite location of Wildwood’s Maui’s Dog House, which opened at the Food Court at the Bellevue last Friday. Meal Ticket reports that it serves traditional German wursts, made by Syracuse sausage slingers, Hoffman Sausage, on Atlantic City-baked buns from Ginsburg Bakery. Just a few blocks away, Underdogs is underway. Foobooz says the hot dog joint will fill the void left by Argan Moroccan Cuisine just beneath street level at 132 South 17th Street.
It will reportedly source its wieners from Port Richmond’s Czerw’s Kielbasy, and will open on or near March 1.
In other news of openings, Brodo, a soup joint, is aiming for a March opening, too. It’s going in at 31 S. 18th Street in what used to be Naked Chocolate.
Nomad Pizza, which has been busy transforming the old Horizon’s space into its first Philadelphia location, hasn’t announced an official opening date, yet. But Foobooz is reporting on the opening draft lineup, which may suggest that it will begin seating guests soon.
