Will First Printer Be a Down-Home Durgin Park?

Let’s be clear: We’re optimistic about First Printer, the new Harvard Square restaurant in the old Herrell’s Ice Cream space. They serve frogs’ legs. They serve alligator. They serve lobster hush puppies. They even have pork-belly chips! Yet we do have one question.

Eater notes that chef-owner Kurt Vogel has was formerly executive chef at the Cask ‘n Flagon and Durgin Park—hearty establishments to be sure, but hardly the pinnacle of innovative dining. Can Vogel make the leap from Yankee pot roast to gator? We’ll find out on Saturday, when First Printer debuts at 15 Dunster Street. [Eater, Urban Daddy]
