In today’s Chron, Michael Bauer revisits Marina brasserie Cafe Des Amis, a year and change after he gave them a lowly one and a half stars and six months after the departure of chef Gordon Drysdale. He finds that the food is somewhat inconsistent and that many dishes come out “lukewarm and imprecisely seasoned.” While he enjoys the mussels, he’s not impressed with the main courses and calls the choucroute garnie “all wrong.” Still, with chef Mark Sullivan in the kitchen, Bauer believes that the eatery “shows promise” even if it “continues to fall slight short of what it could and should be.” [Chron]
