A few weeks ago, we told you that Zak Pelaccio was spearheading a “food literacy” project at P.S. 3, in the West Village, and today the Times has a video of the chef in action. The focus of each session is on the five tastes: salty, sour, sweet, bitter, and umami. In this clip, the kids ask “What is acid?” and make silly faces as they experience sour lemons and limes. Their knife skills need a little practice, but all in all, Pelaccio and his students get an A-plus for effort.
