Plans are underway and several city approvals have already been received for a new street food pod — inspired by Portland’s pods — on a triangular lot bounded by 11th Street and Division, near Bryant. The man behind the project, as the Scoop reports, is one Carlos Muela, who wants to build a couple of semi-permanent structures on the lot, like covered seating, bathrooms, and a projection screen.

Around the central structures (with a capacity for 200 people) will be space for the gathering of food trucks — up to ten, daily, for lunch and dinner. He’s aiming for an early 2012 opening, if all goes according to plan, but we already saw earlier this year how the unconventional construction at Proxy in Hayes Valley kind of held things up there, so “early” 2012 could be optimistic.
