With the addition of Dottie’s True Blue Café, the new Pearl’s Deluxe Burgers, and Monarch, Sixth Street may be looking up, but it remains the home of many a poor person living in those cracky SROs. To help feed those folks this holiday season, Fred’s Liquor and Deli (151 Sixth Street) is hosting their annual free turkey feast on Thursday afternoon, with the help of the Intercontinental Hotel (where they’ll be roasting the birds) and City Team Mission (where they’ll be making stuffing and gravy), as LiveSoMa reports.
After all, the spot where the whole neighborhood comes to buy their daily pint/forty/pack of cigs probably ought to give a little back. (Also note: They sell crack pipes.)
The fun starts at noon, and lasts until all the turkey’s gone. Neighbors or nearby restaurants are encouraged to call Fred’s at 415-543-7337 if they’d care to donate anything — maybe a vegetable perhaps?
