See Inside the Holidose Market

Holidose, the holiday-month edition of Dose Market, was predictably jam-packed in the lobby and corridors of the River East Arts Center with shoppers. But it also served as a great incubator/introduction for new food ventures, some of which intend to go full-time (such as Honey Butter Fried Chicken, coming soon from the Sunday Dinner folks), some of which just represent chefs doing their thing in a new venue, like Marianne Sundquist’s line of preserves, Mess Hall & Co. Especially with so many sweets and desserts, there was more than we (and our kids) could sample without feeling grinchy, but we loved tiny samples of artisanal real-strawberry marshmallows from 240Sweet, tastes of Blis maple syrup and their 27-year-aged balsamic-like sherry vinegar, chatting with Roderick Markus of Rare Tea Cellar and the guy making old-school bitters for Bittercube, and admiring the work of the guy who builds speakers inside of cool old suitcases, among many others. Check out the show in our slideshow, and if you missed it, the next Dose Market will be in February.
