In a bit of sad and shocking last-minute news, the Tribune reports that West Loop restaurant Prairie Fire will be closing its doors after lunch service on December 21.

Ultimately, the problem seemed to be its location—conveniently near all the Randolph Street hotspots, but tucked away on a side street that was just a little too tucked away to benefit from much foot traffic. However, this isn’t the last you’ll see of chef/owner Sarah Stegner and partner George Bumbaris. Their original Northbrook restaurant Prairie Grass will remain open, and Stegner tells the Trib, “We’ll open another restaurant. I’m not sure where, but we will.”
