Swill Automatic, the Downtown wine bar that leaned on a display of enomatic vino dispensers, has been converted into a newly opened wine bar called Pour Haus (apparently the German trend has even infiltrated our wine bars). Eater reports that Lorena Porras, a wine and tequila specialist who worked in wine sales for years, has given the room a new look, ditching technology for a clean arrangement of grey walls and shelves stocked with bottles and low-slung chairs, while the wine-by-the-glass menu will rotate daily, along with a short selection of European tapas (including these pretty rose-shaped stuffed peppers). As one Eater reader comments, naming a place “Pour House” so close to Skid Row could be more offensive than a place called Swill in the same spot, but we’ll note, it also sounds a bit like the owner’s last name and maybe she just couldn’t resist the wordplay.
