Pollo Campero, the chain of chicken franchises originally founded in Guatemala back in 1971, is opening a new location in Trenton, NJ on December 13. It’s the chain’s first location near Philadelphia, and gives good reason to venture to the Garden State’s capital for something other than a tomato pie from DeLorenzo’s. Franchisee Tejas “TJ” Ajmeri fell for the made to order marinated grilled and fried chicken that’s put Pollo Campero on the map, not too mention the secret blend of Latin spices that sets it apart from other fast food cluckers, while visiting a location in Maryland while on business. Once this location is up and running, Ajmeri says he will consider expanding with more. Here’s hoping he opens one here in Philly.
