The boom of new restaurants at LAX has begun, with the opening of an airport location of Nate n’ Al last Thursday, under kicking and screaming food service giant HMS Host. The famous 66-year-old Beverly Hills delicatessen is renowned for its time-worn breakfasts and parade of famous patrons through the years, like Dean Martin, while keeping Larry King off the streets as a sort of informal second home for the host.

The airport version carries the same nostalgic look, covered in memorabilia to give travelers to Terminal Two a sense of L.A. history and pride. The opening, which should raise the bar for LAX’s ho-hum, disconnected food options, is meant as a preview of concepts to come like Cole’s, Seven Grand, Loteria Grill, and 8 Oz. Burger Bar, which are slated to open in the late summer of 2012. [Related]
