Among all the “handpicked deals” on newish site Blackboard Eats is the addition of Chicago editor Kate Bernot, who fills the shoes of their launch editor, Louisa Chu.

Doesn’t she look so happy about her new gig?

The name should ring a bell for readers of former NBC blog The Feast, where Bernot contributed her recognizable brand of smart and sassy commentary on the Chicago food scene (and for yours truly, ahem). A former Dolinsky protégé, she’s already honed her writing chops at the Sun-Times, Conde Nast Traveler, and Serious Eats Chicago.

As for the site, Bernot tells us there are some interesting new projects on the horizon, including unique tasting menus and entertainment-dining pairing events. Sadly, that doesn’t include Rick Bayless’s foray into the theater world with ‘Cascabel’ (though, coincidentally, that deal is being offered on Gilt City Chicago right now).
