It was only last month when we first learned that San Francisco chef Jeremy Fox, formerly of Ubuntu, was consulting on the menu for Freddy Smalls Bar & Kitchen, a West L.A. restaurant project from The Counter’s founder, Jeff Weinstein. According to its Facebook page, Freddy Smalls will soft-open tonight at 5:30 P.M. in West L.A., though a rep says they were unaware of this sudden debut.
Details unfortunately remain under wraps as to what former Plum chef Charlie Parker is cooking here, as well as the handmade cocktails designed with help from Seven Grand’s David Fleisher. The restaurant plans to be open Monday through Thursday, 5:30 P.M.-1:00 A.M., and Fridays and Saturdays until 2:00 A.M., hopefully bringing West L.A. the kind well-conceived and dedicated gastropub that reigns through Los Angeles these days, but that this particular neighborhood still lacks.
