2011 is turning out to be a somewhat disappointing year for chef Elizabeth Falkner. She closed Orson and recently announced plans to shutter Citizen Cake on Fillmore. Last night she lost the Next Iron Chef title to New York’s Geoffrey Zakarian. Although Falkner’s cooking style was praised by the judges as being creative and surprising, she couldn’t beat Zakarian’s precise technique. Forever a fighter, Falkner tweeted thanks to her supporters proclaiming she’s “not done!” She also promised to publish her iTunes Iron Chef mix, so everyone can download it and listen to the music that inspired her during the competition. Despite the recent downfalls she’s faced, hopefully Falkner’s looking forward to a sunny-citrusy Christmas in California.
