Nearly eight years since gaudy Spring Break-themed bar Slow Down! Life’s Too Short shut down, Eater reports that premium social club Estate Ultra Bar is already in the works of taking over the space at 1177 N. Elston. As suggested by the name, the concept seems to be going for a “bougie mansion” look, with a labyrinth of rooms, including: living room, dining room (where presumably you can order chef Chris Turano’s “playful American cuisine”), atrium with fireplace, bar with DJ booth, and even a private trophy room, filled with, um, all the awards they haven’t received yet? Luckily, there’s ample space for exploration, which is great since there’s nothing else nearby as a backup.
Wait, are you still inside? Please allow us to direct you to the magnificent views you’ll be taking in this spring from their sky deck, sky lounge, and outdoor terrace! Understandably, you’ve probably been too distracted by the ongoing Division Street Bridge construction and blindingly colorful carcass of Slow Down! Life’s Too Short to notice that the Chicago River runs alongside. And if you keep your sight towards the breathtaking views of the Chicago skyline, you can continue to overlook the scenic industrial warehouses and pollution surrounding the building. How elegant!
Of course, the owners of Estate Ultra Bar could very well be on the forefront of a new trendy neighborhood. After all, people are willing to dine al fresco at Aviary, iNG, and The Publican—despite the fact Fulton Market is filled with semi trucks and smells like raw fish and meat. As for all the club hoppers eager to fill in their calendars, this one can be penciled in for early 2012.
