The civic-minded folks at Eastern Standard have a special Nicaraguan-inspired menu planned for Wednesday through Friday. Purchase of an app, entrée, and some special cocktails benefit “Friends of Students for 60,000,” a nonprofit dedicated to assisting the impoverished in Nicaragua. They’re trying to raise $3600 to pay for one teacher’s salary for a year. And all you have to do is eat!
On the menu: spicy snapper ceviche with grapefruit, pickled jalapeno, sweet potato chips; braised goat feijoada, cilantro cumin crust; and libations showcasing Nicaraguan rum Flor de Cana. Plus, if you dine on the 16th, you can also groove to the melodic tones of DJ Ryan Brown & Tyler Made, who will spin Nicaraguan-inspired tunes.
Last year’s event was a big success: They raised enough money to build a new home for a Nicaraguan family. All proceeds go directly to the organization this year, too, so get thee to Kenmore. And maybe check out Hawthorne afterwards, if it’s not packed?
