The Portland Oregonian has the sad news that one of Grub’s favorite D.J.’s, Jonathan “the New York Night Train” Toubin, was injured in a freak accident in Portland, Oregon, yesterday morning. While Toubin slept in a ground-floor room at the trendy Jupiter Hotel, a taxi (whose driver evidently suffered a diabetic episode) crashed through the wall and landed on him. Toubin was semi-conscious and could speak and move his hands slightly when paramedics carried him away from the scene. Both Home Sweet Home — where Toubin had been slated to spin his signature blend of old-school soul and R&B; tonight — and his other regular NYC venue, Motor City, are holding benefits this evening. Here’s wishing Toubin a speedy, full recovery. [OregonLive via Sounds of the City/VV]
