Has Cocktail Culture Gone Too Far?

Just like days of yore?
Just like days of yore?

Our pals over at Chowder reported yesterday that Brick & Mortar, in the former Enormous Room space, is set to debut soon. It’s a star-studded endeavor from The Enormous Room’s Gary Strack and B-Side Lounge founder Patrick Sullivan, with barroom help from Drink ‘tenderess extrordinaire Misty Kalkofen. “We sort of feel that the [cocktail] culture has tipped [tippled?] over a little bit, and it needs to be more about hospitality and more about the patron,” Strack told Chowder.

Just like days of yore?

What do you think? Do cocktail professionals take themselves too seriously here in town?

Regardless of where you stand (or sit at the bar), the most important takeaway is doubtlessly that the B Side Lounge’s Sullivan is involved. Because everybody misses the B Side Lounge.
