Quite a while back we told you about the expansion plans of Farmerbrown owners Jay Foster and Deanna Sison, which involved taking over the former Someplace Else at 1795 Geary (just down from the corner of Fillmore) to open something called The Library. It turns out they actually handed the project over to a Farmerbrown manager, who changed the name to The Social Study, and now Tablehopper reports that they’re aiming for a January 3 opening for the all-day bar/lounge/snack bar.
They’ll be open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. to start, and there’ll be Four Barrel coffee as well as beer, wine, and sangrias. The focal point of the smallish space is a bright blue padded wall unit with what appear to be fold-down seats, like jump-seats on an airplane. And even though there’ll be music playing on a turntable throughout the day, and the occasional DJ at night, co-owner Harmony Fraga (a former manager at Farmerbrown) envisions the place as one where you can both study and read books, and “study” people.
