Today we find the usually more buttoned up Chronicle surveying the city’s “favorite dive bars,” and their list isn’t half bad. You’ve got the 85-year-old Gold Cane in the Upper Haight, the ever-so-S.F. Kennedy’s Irish Pub & Curry House in North Beach, and one of our all-time favorites, Aunt Charlie’s Lounge in the ‘Loin — even though the two real stars of their weekend drag show, Gina LaDivina and Vicky Marlane, are now either semi-retired (Gina), or deceased (Vicky). The only one on the list we’d take issue with is Butter in SoMa, which is way too new to be called a dive. [Chron]
