Pauline’s has been a popular breakfast spot in the Andersonville neighborhood since 1996, with a cheerfully retro off-the-beaten-path location at Ravenswood and Balmoral (reportedly a cafe since the 1920s), comfy food a step above the usual corner diner, and a nice older couple who ran it for many years. Sadly Pauline (Panerali) Messier, the wife of the couple for whom it was named, passed away in October 2010, and now news comes that husband Ron Messier died on November 19. According to the hostess who answered the phone, the restaurant will remain open as it is, serving breakfast and lunch 7 days a week.
