What was Persephone has fully transformed into Amali, a Mediterranean restaurant owned by James Mallios, formerly of Resto, with restaurateurs Steve Tzolis and Nicola Kotsoni of Il Cantinori and Periyali, and East Side Social Club’s Devon Gilroy as the chef. The name of the restaurant (with 110 seats and two private rooms) and the food served there reflect several Mediterranean countries — Italy, Croatia, Turkey, Spain, and, primarily, Greece. Gilroy has made lamb a focus on the menu and sources whole ones from the Elysian Fields Farm in Pennsylvania. With the also-new Loi just across the park, it’s looking like a Santa-meets-Santorini winter, which is a very enchanting thing.
